Make a list of your constructive skills which you enjoy. Try to do something on this list at least once a week as it will help you to express yourself and your abilities. This can reduce stress, self loathing, feelings of powerlessness and other things which can be contributing factor to the urge to self harm. By being pre-emptive you may find yourself thinking about these things far less often than you currently do.
