One of the reasons self harm is sooo addictive is because there is an emotional cycle. Firstly you experience hurt, then you self harm, then you feel shame which causes more hurt, leading to more self harm and in turn leading to more shame, in a large loop. While this is a simplified version of the issue you are dealing with it leads to one important thing you should think about baring this loop in mind next time you feel the urge to harm yourself may help bring out enough of your personal strength to get through without falling back into the habit.
